Edward Elias Stiles, 92, Middleport, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010, at Pleasant Valley Hospital.  Mr. Stiles was the son of the late Elias Stiles and Edna Ginther Stiles.  He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1935 and was an Army veteran of World War II.  He was a retired railroad engineer, having worked for New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail.
He is survived by: Children: Kay Platter, Middleport; Barbara (James) Fry, Pomeroy; Roger (Linda) Stiles, Pataskala; Nina Craddock, Middleport; Grandchildren: Ruth (James) Bush, Virginia Beach, VA; Sue Fry, Middleport; Jason (Marybeth) Stiles, Silver Spring, MD; Matthew Craddock, Middleport; Five Great Grandchildren; Sister: Julia Norris, Racine; Sister-In-Law: Edna Hooks, Manhattan, KS; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by: Wife: Eloise Surface Stiles in 1996; Son-In-Law: Carl Platter; Brothers-In-
Law: Herschel Norris, Harry Surface, Hubert Surface.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., on January 29, 2010, at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Middleport. Officiating will be Rev. Arland King and Linea Warmke. Burial will be in Rocksprings Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, January 28, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00P.M. at the funeral home.
