Bennie Joe Wright, 74, of Pomeroy, Ohio, passed away on February 15, 2026. Born on November 4, 1951, in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Lloyd Wright and Jean (Neal) Wright.
Bennie was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. He was married to his beloved wife, Sandy, for 48 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Wright; his daughters, Jessica (Rusty) Lavender and Sharon Wright; and his son, Wesley Wright, Brother Mike Wright, He was a proud grandfather to Lexie Bolin, Ariya Jordan, Riley Lavender, Adam (Brittney) Lavender, and Dylan (Morgan) Lavender. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Easton Lavender, Eva Lavender, Tripp Lavender, and Navi Lavender. Bennie is further survived by many special nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Becky (Anderson) Wright; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Hyllia Eblin; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Wright and Lynn Wright; and his brothers-in-law, John Card and Roy Eblin; his Niece Tammy Hutton; Nephew, David Michael Wright and Grandmother, Beulah OChier.
A graduate of Meigs High School, Bennie went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force and later attended Hocking College for forestry. He retired as a carpenter and maintenance worker for the Meigs Local School District, where his craftsmanship and dedication left a lasting impact.
Bennie was a longtime member of Laurel Cliff Free Methodist Church. During the summer months, you could often find him at the Pomeroy baseball fields—fields he helped build in the 1990s. His love for the game and commitment to the community made him a familiar and cherished presence there for many years.
Bennie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his servant’s heart, and the deep love he had for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service (11-1:00pm).
