Charles William “Bill” Baer, 78, of Racine, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 14, 2026. Born on January 28, 1947, he was the son of the late George David Baer and Clara Anna Frecker Baer.
Mr. Baer was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara Baer, aswell as his granddaughter, Bexley Baer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jeanne Baer; sons, Christopher William (Kristin) Baer and Jason Andrew (Talia) Baer; step-daughters, Marcy Hill Wyatt and Kristen (Jason) Wright;
grandchildren, Morgan (Nick Lilly) Baer, Weston Baer, Brecken Baer, Brenley Baer, Layne Acree, Landon Acree, Brennan Wyatt, Kassidy (Levi) Euton, and Kody Wright; as well as his lifelong friend John Costanzo.
Mr. Baer devoted his career to the field of education. He began teaching at Bloom Carroll School and subsequently spent more than three decades at Southern Junior High School and Syracuse Elementary, where he retired after making a significant impact on his students. Bill was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming with his sons.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held in honor of Bill on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio officiated by Pastor Al Hartson. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Mr. Baer is remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, commitment to education, and the positive influence he had throughout his life and career.
