Curtis (Curt) Dalton, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Rutland, Ohio on October 8, 2025. Born on August 29, 1949 in Logan, West Virginia, Curt lived a life rooted in hard work, love for his family, and a deep connection to the land.
He was a proud farmer and a dedicated member of Carpenter's Union Local 650. Curt had a lifelong passion for coon hunting and farming, and he found great joy in the simple, honest moments those pursuits brought him. His kindness, generosity, and big-hearted nature touched everyone who knew him. He was known for his humor, his willingness to lend a hand, and the way he made others feel at ease with a laugh.
Curt was married to the love of his life, Kathleen VanMeter, for 43 years until her passing in 2013. He is survived by his sisters, Delorous Gaus (John) and Paulette Gordon (Gary), and his daughter, Kelly Dalton (Tory). He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Zack (Taylor), Ashley (Stephen), Holly (Bryan), Matt, Wyatt (Ashley), Brady (Hannah), Jake, and Haven; a great-grandfather to Zoie, Emma, Sebastian, Symaura, and Saria and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Anderson-McDaniel Funeral Home, 590 East Main Street, Pomeroy, Ohio. Funeral services will follow immediately after.
