Delbert Fridley Obituary

Delbert William Fridley, 75, of Pomeroy, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2026, following a short but intense battle with cancer.

Delbert graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam, where he spent 16 months in infantry and airborne divisions carrying the M60 machine gun. He often said many times that he had already spent his time in hell.

Following his military service, Delbert worked as a truck driver and mechanic. He especially loved working on cars and spent much of his time doing what he enjoyed most—fixing and tinkering with engines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Goldie Fridley; his stepfather, Emmett Lightfoot; his brother, Chuck Fridley; and his sisters, Nancy Hill and Loretta Severn.

Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Fridley; his son, Trevor Casto; his brother, Larry (Joy) Fridley; his niece, Christine (Mike) Gray; his brother-in-law, Mark Casto; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his two beloved dogs, Angus and Onix, who were faithful companions.

Delbert will be remembered for his service to his country, his strong work ethic, and his love for working on cars.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Pastor John Swanson officiating.   Burial will follow in the Miles Cemetery.   Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service (11-1:00pm).  Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #39 Pomeroy.
