Delores Surface

Delores Surface, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend, passed was surrounded by family and love on October 3, 2025.  She was deeply adored by those who knew her, and her warmth and kindness touched countless lives.  Known for her ever-present smile and infectious laughter, Dorie as known, had a gift for making every guest feel right at home.  Her door was always open- no matter the hour or the reason, anyone was welcome to sit at her table to share an oatmeal pie.   

A lover of all things pink, she added a splash of color and joy to every day.  Family gatherings were filled with her sweet humming.  Dorie enjoyed quiet moments with her Bible and church with her family, and drew strength from His word.  The center of her world was her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her gentle touch, caring words and unwavering support.  

Her legacy of love, laughter and hospitality will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.  She will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

 She is preceded in death by her parents: Eula Odegard and Emery Haggy; siblings: Lloyd Haggy, Gar Haggy, Jean Norton; brother-in-law: Harold Norton; sister-in-law: Brenda Haggy; brother-in-law: Dale Gum

She is survived by her sisters; Shirley Meadows (Harold) of Mason, Ruby Haggy Gum of Tenn, and brothers Jack Haggy (Janice) of Pomeroy, and Ernie Haggy of Pomeroy; daughter: Diana Johnson Rucker; son: Keith (Tammy) Lynch of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Rick (Shirael) Johnson, Letart, Wv.  Christopher (Valerie) Johnson Letart, Wv. Josh Lynch Point Pleasant, WV. Joel (Leslie) Lynch Cincinnati, Oh. Jake (Tiffany) Lynch, Cincinnati, Oh. Megan Tibbetts Middleport, Ohio & Shawn Tibbetts Columbus Oh; sisters-in-laws, Leela Haggy and Joyce Haggy and special friend: Ida Martin. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Middleport.  Burial will follow in the Miles Cemetery in Rutland.   Visitation for family and friends will be held 2 hours prior to the service (11-1:00pm).
