Dolores “Dolly” Wolfe

Dolores “Dolly” Irene (Kraeuter) Wolfe, age 88, of Racine, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday August 12th, 2026 at Overbrook Rehabilitation in Middleport, Ohio. She was born on October 13th, 1937 to Eldon and Lucille Kraeuter who both predeceased her. 

      Dolly married Lawrence “Larry” “Little Fooze” Wolfe and enjoyed 50+ years of marriage before his passing in 2014. Dolly spent 30+ years as a teacher within the Southern Local School District with multiple years of substitute teaching post retirement, and her first couple of years teaching at Meigs Local. 

     Mrs. Wolfe was known for having strict discipline in the classroom, but also was the one that delivered a big hug to console students when they faced difficult situations. Her strict, but caring nature resulted in effective teaching that saw students excel on state testing; and earned her a title of being addressed years later as “Mrs. Wolfe” by students well into their adulthood.  A couple particular lessons that many students can still remember were “Helping Words” and “Linking Verbs”lessons, while also learning to “Do your best” and respect others.     

     Mrs. Wolfe was a member of the Racine Methodist Church, where she played piano for many years, and continued to use her musical talents to entertain residents at the Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of American Revolution, and served as a volunteer paramedic on the Racine Emergency Squad. Dolly enjoyed attending Southern athletic contests and local sporting events that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.

      Dolly and Larry loved Bluegrass music and traveled around the country to various festivals to see many of their favorites- The Lewis Family, Jim and Jesse, Ralph Stanley, RhondaVincent, and Allison Krause among others. The Wolfe family also promoted Racine area Bluegrass festivals, where many big names came to entertain. 

       Dolly and Larry also shared a love for auto racing where they met many friends over the years. They were avid Jeff Gordon fans, Southern Tornado fans, and University of Rio Grande fans.

       She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Wolfe and sister Leda Mae Kraeuter. She is survived by her sister Roberta (Dale) Maidens, her daughter Laren (Clayton) Shain, son Kent (Kim) Wolfe, grandchildren Wes (Ashley) Riffle, Whitney (David) Camp, Kort (Morgan) Wolfe, Ryan (Megan) Wolfe, Trevor Wolfe and Tara Wolfe, great grandchildren Emersyn, Mattis, Nevaeh, Hayden, Remi, Rip, Jax and Rowan, and special niece Christi (Petie) Hendrix. 

       Viewing will be held at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio on Tuesday August 18th, 2026 from 11am-1pm with funeral service following immediately after. Graveside service will take place at Letart Falls cemetery with Pastor Larry Fisher as officiant. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Overbrook Rehabilitation for the past few years of care and Buckeye Hospice for their great care in Dolly’s final moments. The family would also like to express their gratitude to her Overbrook roommate, Fannie West, for her friendship.
