F. Karen Werry, age 83, of Racine, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. She was born on July 13, 1942, the daughter of Thomas and Evelyn (Rose) Holter.
Karen was a lifelong resident of the Racine area and was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated 35 years of service working for the Crow & Crow Law Office, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and strong work ethic. Karen was an active member of Morning Star Church and faithfully served and worked with many local organizations throughout her life, including the Meigs County Fair Board, the Meigs County Museum Board, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Historical Society, the Winding Trail Garden Club (Shade Valley Floral Association), and others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Evelyn Holter; husband, James Werry; her son, Randall Werry.
She is survived by her sons, James (Penny) Werry and Rick (Tasha) Werry; grandchildren: James (Cari) Werry, Jessann Steinmetz, Samantha (Tyson) George, Brianna (Rikey) Jones, Sarah Triplett and Thomas (Brittany) Werry; and her great-grandchildren: Jayden, Gage, Brody, Lucas, Scarlett, Orion, Levi, Kevin, Sophie and Ophelia.
Karen will be remembered for being steady, kind, and loving. She was the heart of the family, the one who kept us connected, remembered our stories, and created moments that brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. I am sure many will remember being at a gathering of some kind at her house on Court Street Road sometime over the 55+ years that she lived there and opened her door in welcome to others.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson-McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Gilmore Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Karen will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, and her community, and for the quiet grace with which she lived her life.
