Gerald Keith, " Jerry " Reuter as his friends and colleagues called him passed away from kidney failure on Nov. 18, 2023 in southern Cailfornia.
Keith was born Nov. 4, 1938 to the late Gerald and Artie Reuter of Pomeroy, Ohio.
He was a graduate of Pomeroy High School and Ohio University, later receiving his Masters' from Antioch College.
He enlisted in the United States Army, he worked in the Army Chemical Corp as a chemist, serving at Edgewood Maryland and several other posts around the world.
Throughout his life he was an educator, He taught in Cleveland Oh and several schools in Los Angeles County and in Mexico.
He spent his summers in Baja Mexico on the beach at Angels Camp studing marine biology. Upon retirement he had a beautiful home built on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Baja, where he participated in studies of the Pacific Whale Watch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an older Brother Donald and a nephew Donald Scott. He is survived by his younger brother Paul (Margie) of Urbana, OH, many nieces and nephews cousins, and a special friend Claydene Gray, a fellow educator who built a home next to his in Baja.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his legacy of love for education and for animals will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A graveside memorial will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Middleport OH at later date.
