Herbert "Herby" William Roush 79, passed away unexpectedly July 10, 2024. Herby was born Feb. 21, 1945 to the late Bill and Mary Roush of New Haven, WV. He was a graduate of Wahama High School class of 1963. He served in the United States Navy and than went on to work at John Amos Power Plant where he retired after 35 years. Those who knew Herby knew retirement wouldn't last. He and his brother Joe Roush opened Main Street Furniture in Point Pleasant, WV where they sold furniture and made many friends for 14 years. He was active at one time in Mason County Special Olympics and a member of the American Legion Post 140 of New Haven, WV.
Herby is survived by his wife of 35 years Polly Roush. Two daughters Michelle (Bruce) Chapman of Point Pleasant, WV and Chery (Sterling) Shields of Mason, WV. One son Matt Roush of Letart, WV. Sister Bonnie Williams of Racine,Ohio. 2 Brothers Harry (Sandi) Roush of New Haven, WV. Joe and (the late Sandy) Roush of Letart WV. 5 Grand children Danielle (Tyler) Thompson, Kinley(Jordon) Schneider, Jacob Ryan, Brayden Roush, and Aleeah Roush. 3 great grandchildren Ronne and Ezalina Schneider and Renley Thompson. And many many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mary Roush, a sister Eleanor ( Sissie) Keck and a very special niece Deanna Freeman, Herby was always busy doing something. He couldn't sit still for more than 10 minutes. He lived a full life doing what he wanted to do.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday July 21st at 2pm at the American Legion Post 140 New Haven, WV backroom. The family invites everyone to stop by grab some food and share a story.
