Ida Mae Martin (Wilson), age 85, of Middleport, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. Born on November 28, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Ida dedicated 35 years of service to Meigs Local Schools as a school bus driver from 1977 until her retirement in 2012. Her commitment to safely transporting generations of students reflected her deep sense of responsibility and care for the children in her community.
She was a woman of strong faith who found great joy in reading the Bible—cover to cover many times—and singing in church. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life and brought comfort and inspiration to those around her.
Ida found happiness in simple pleasures. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, and spending quiet moments with scripture. These hobbies were not only pastimes but expressions of her warmth and creativity that she shared generously with others.
She is survived by her four children: Angela S. Martin; Margo E. Filkins and her husband Bruce; Franklin Martin; and Steven R. Martin and his wife Jodi. She also leaves behind two beloved sisters, Rachel Craig and Cora Lee; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ida will also be deeply missed by her longtime family friends Jane Wiseman, Sandra Syrus, Frances Oldaker and Jolene Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Franklin Martin; her parents, Howard Wilson and Rachel Runyon Wilson; her sister Bertha Soltez; brothers Paul Wilson, Carl Wilson, Charlie Wilson, and Shirley Wilson; as well as her dear friend and coworker Deloris Surface.
Ida’s legacy is one of steadfast love, enduring faith, and quiet strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 1 PM at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow in the Meigs Memory Gardens. Visitation for friends and family will be held two hours prior to the service (11-1:00pm).
