Ida May Jean Gray (Betke), 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 30, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 1, 1939, Ida was a woman of deep kindness and devotion. A lifetime homemaker, she found her greatest joy in caring for others. Whether she was cooking a meal for her family, beautifully decorating her yard for the holidays, or tending to her many beloved pets and animals, Ida made her home a place of warmth and welcome.
Ida was a dedicated friend and neighbor who spent much of her time helping those around her. She also had an adventurous spirit, enjoying camping and traveling all over the country.
She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Wilson Gray.
She is survived by her siblings: two sisters, Wanda Roberts and Wanietta McNeall, and her brother, Roy Betke.
Her legacy lives on through her seven children: Beverly Betke, Jo (Otis) Logan, Alfred (Peggy) Gray, Michael (Christine) Gray, Vincent (Brenda) Gray, Joe (Nichole) Gray Jr., and the late Arthur Gray.
She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Michelle Burr, J.R. Phillips, Amber Sopko, Joshua Gray, Heather Gray, Hannah Harmon, Rickey Gray, Megan Engle, Corey Gray, and the late Jason Brown, Danielle Gray, and J.J. Gray. She also leaves behind over a dozen great-grandchildren and a special friend Lois Wolfe
Ida will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of nature, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at the Letart Falls Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the funeral service (11-1:00pm).
