James William Batey

James William Batey of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Arbors of Pomeroy, Ohio.

He was born on June 14, 1943 in Middleport, Ohio to George and Violet Oiler Batey.  Jim graduated from Middleport High School in 1961.  He attended Ohio University.  Jim worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, West Virginia and for several environmental service companies during his career. 

Jim is survived by two sons, Shawn Christian Batey, wife Tiffiny and two daughters Madison and Mackenzie of Prairieville, Louisiana; and Stephen James Batey, fiancée Jenny Eakins, son Stephen Jacob Batey and daughter Tamnara Storms, Grandson Harrison Batey, son of Jason Batey, and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters Shirley Boyd and Linda Turner of Reynoldsburg, and his son Jason Batey of Savannah, Georgia. 

The family would like to thank the staff of the Arbors of Pomeroy and Shriver Hospice for the care and attention they provided over the years to our father. 

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
