On May 16, 2025 John Paul Hood 77 of Pomeroy, Ohio passed away at his home with his wife, Crystal at his side.
Preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Freda Hood, brothers Sam and Jim Hood and grandson Andrew Hood.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Crystal Lynn Hood. Three sons: Jeffrey Paul (Marlo) Hood of Lacey WA, Stephen Todd (Meagan) Hood of Middleport, OH and Christopher Tyson Lee of Parkersburg WV, grandchildren: Brigg, Ava, Willow and Brandon Hood, Megan (Treay) McKinney and Rileigh Ward, great grandchildren: Brinley and Kimber McKinley, Cooper and Cali Hood, two nieces: Jolene And Leslie Hood
John was a proud letter carrier of U.S. Postal Service in Middleport for many years. He served in the United States Army and retired from WV National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 39 of Pomeroy where he served as Commander, VFW Post 9926 of Mason, WV. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Middleport where he served as a Trustee. John was a Salisbury Township Trustee and was on the Leading Creek Water Board. He was also a member of the Masonic Siloam Lodge 456 of Cheshire, OH. John previously served Meigs Local School District Board Member.
He was a member of and President of GWRA, Huntington. Throughout the years John was also involved in many other local community organizations. As he enjoyed giving back to the community.
John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching NASCAR with his buddies. Listening to the scanner. And getting on the phone gossiping with his buddies, he also enjoyed spending time at his home with his wife Crystal and puppy Daisy.

A celebration of life will be June 14, 2025 at 11AM Anderson McDaniel Funeral home in Pomeroy with Pastor Billy Zuspan officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Legion Post 39, 41765 Pomeroy Pike, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769
