John Fitzgerald Stephens, age 63, passed away on April 16, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1962.
John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge, the Lions Club, and Cornerstone Gospel Church. John was the owner and operator of the Corner Restaurant for many years. John was known for his strong sense of community, his faith, and the friendships he built throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ladonna Stephens; his sons, Clinton John Stephens and Corey Christopher Stephens; his stepson, Jamie Ryan Boyd; and his grandson, Braden Eugene Hawley. He also leaves behind several brothers and sisters, Evelyn “Sarah” McGinnis, Samuel Walker, Anna Marie Zilka, Pauline Rager, Lee Roy Walker, Harold Walker, Donald “Dennis” Walker and Carl “Butch” Walker.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Walker; his siblings, David “Bob” Walker, Betty Louise Allmendinger, John “Bill” Walker, Mary Ruth Gross, and Eldred “Ted” Walker; and a special friend, Jim Boyd.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow in Burlingham Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
