Lethia Belle Bumgarner of Letart, West Virginia passed away December 27, 2024.at the age of 105 years. She graduated from Wahama High School at the age of 16. A lifelong member of the New Haven United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School for 60 years.
She started teaching at the age of 19. She was active in many activities at the church. She had a deep faith in God and was always ready to share her gratitude for God's blessings and guidance over the many years of her life.
Lethia was employed by the Mason County Bank in New Haven for 33 years. Upon retirement she joined Quilt'n Things Club. Soon she developed a passion for making quilts. She sewed for her family all her life, but making quilts was much more enjoyable. She pieced her last quilt at the age of 94. One of her quilts was exhibited at the Homestead Invitational Quilt Show.
For many years she volunteered at Pleasant Valley Hospital making animals for the Care Center and the children patients.
She was a member of the NEHACLIMA Garden Club and the CEOS Homemakers Club.
Lethia was preceded in death by her parents Hazel and Harry Capehart, brothers: Lewis Capehart, Wayne Capehart, Harry Capehart, and Robert Capehart.
She is survived by her: daughters, Sue (Patrick) Harbour of Letart, WV and Peggy Beekman of Greenfield, OH: granddaughters, Aimee (Mike) White, Stephanie Click, Michelle (Greg) Lyle; grandsons, Zach (Melissa) Sims, and Joel (Barbara) Sims; great grandchildren, Caroline Click, Jackson Click, Colin Lindsay, Tyler Lindsay, Trevor White, Haley (Kyle) Sims, Carly Sims, Mallory Sims, Isiah Lyle, Stephanie Flemming, Tyler Godfrey, Brennon (Alyssa) Godfrey and Dillion (Cassidy) Godfrey; and eight great great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care given by caregivers Stacy Kearns and Sally Erwin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 20024 at 12:00pm with Pastor Jason Simpkins officiating at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Letart, West Virginia. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the funeral home.
