Mary Lou Burnside Houdashelt, born 2-18-1943 was at home with her close family when she went to heaven to be with her lord and savior May 23, 2025. Mary Lou has always been known to take care of everyone else.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Ruby Burnside, her beloved husband of 52 years Charles Richard Houdashelt, a daughter Mary Ann, two of her sisters Patsy Ann and Grace, and son-in-law Rob Harrison.
She is survived in death by her sister Marcia King; brother Tom Burnside; daughters, Audra Harrison ( Chris Workman), Betsy Houdashelt Rice (Harry Rice), grandchildren, Wade Harrison, Lexie Houdashelt Rice (Derek Hart), Dakota Rice (Ashley Saunders), several great grand children, and her special friend Chuck VanCooney, and her beloved dog Izzy. Mary was a graduate of Pomeroy High School.
She had several different jobs after high school but retired from Ohio University Financial Aid. She was an avid Gideon member and held an office for several years. She loved lighthouses, camping, gardening, boating, and traveling. She loved her Jesus, her family, her church, and most everyone she met. Her main goal was always to be there for and to help others no matter what, and she did! She will be deeply missed until we are with her again someday.
Services will held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with pastor Wes Young officiating. Burial will Follow in the Carleton Church Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 6-8:00pm at the funeral home.
