Richard Owen Friend

Richard Owen Friend age 72, of Syracuse, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2026, passing away peacefully at home surrounded by love of his family.

Born on November 3, 1953 Richard lived a life defined by his deep faith and devotion to God. He was a true man of God whose unwavering faith guided his every step, and his family takes great comfort in knowing he has now safely gone home to his eternal reward.

When he wasn’t spending time with his family and friends he could be found flying or working on his RC airplanes, following his passion of aviation.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of nearly 53 years Linda Friend; his children Michelle (Tom) Flaherty, Eddie (Jaime) Friend, Jennifer (Mark) McKinney; grandchildren Andrew McClary, Owen McKinney and Isadora McKinney; his mother Shirley Friend; brothers Marvin Friend and Mark Friend; his sister Belinda Soulsby and sister-n-law Mary Friend; special cousin Chuddy Searles; and many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his love and spiritual legacy in their hearts.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard M. Friend, his brother Brian M. Friend and brother-n-law Tom Soulsby.

Visitation will be at the Anderson-McDaniel funeral home in Pomeroy, Ohio at 11am to 1pm on Friday August 7, 2026.  His service will take place following his visitation at 1pm.  Burial will follow at Meigs Memory Gardens.
