Richard A. Koker, 87, of Syracuse, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 4, 2026. He was born in Athens County to Ralph Koker, Sr. and Martha Pinkerton Koker.
Richard was a 38-year public school treasurer, with most of those years at Federal Hocking Local Schools, and interim positions in surrounding counties. He attended Syracuse Asbury Methodist Church. Richard was a kind and gentle man who was friends with everyone he met. He loved gardening and his family. Richard loved the Lord and lived to serve Him.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Barbara Bass Koker, who survives him, on March 19, 1994 in Gatlinburg, TN. He is also survived by children, Valerie Koker, Richard (Rick) Koker, Allen Koker, and Mark (Kattie) Brown; grandchildren, Erica (Matt) Warren, Tina (Mitch) Adams, Arik Koker, Kaylee Koker, Brooke Casto, and Devin Brown, and twelve great-grandchildren. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Jr., Kenneth, and Gerald, grandson Adam Kemp, and nephew Tim Koker.
Viewing will be on January 7th, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Anderson-McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wesley Thoene officiating.
