Steven Werner Fife, age 63, left this world on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to be reunited with his loving parents in heaven. Steven was born September 17, 1962, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Roscoe and Betty Lu Fife.
Steve was a 1980 graduate of Meigs High School and later received his degree in Petroleum Engineering at Muskingum Technical College in Zanesville, Ohio. He was later employed as a security guard with Wackenhut securing Meigs Mine #2.
Steve is survived by his siblings, who he loved dearly, Cheryl (Don) Roush of Marietta, David (Dawn) Fife of Little Hocking, and Terri (Tim) Mullins of Middleport. Steven loved his nieces and nephews and treated them like his own children: Julie (Zach) Roush, Amy (Mike) Danielson, Weston (Jilaine) Fife, Kelsey (Travis) Dickson, Jeremy Mullins, Melissa (Brian) Plow, Tim Mullins, Kassandra (Dan) Aleksiejcyzk. In addition, Steve had many great-nieces and nephews, Matthew (Danielle) Wandling, Walker (Lila) Mayer, Madelyn (Logan) Mayer, Shaina (Tyler) Colvin, Jaron (Morgan) Leach, Amanda (Brian) Danielson, Danielle Danielson, Skylar and Austin Fife. Great- great nieces and nephews are Landyn, Kayanna, Harlee and Colten Wandling, Joey and Jack Colvin, Oliver and Laken Leach. Steve had many extended family members, along with many lifelong friends he cared for, and a special friend, Rose Fife. Steve will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those that had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Steve was an avid Cleveland Browns and Notre Dame fan, along with his love for hockey; he was a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Steve enjoyed fishing and watching football and baseball with his dad, hunting with his dad and brother-in-law, Don, and spending time with family. He was a talented baseball player in his younger years and was known on the field by many as “Cubby.” Later he continued his love for the game, playing softball with his brother, Dave, where he gained many friends over the years.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Betty Fife, maternal grandparents, Chauncey and Callie Werner, and paternal grandparents Ross and Bessie Fife.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Middleport Police Department, Meigs County EMS and Holzer ER in Pomeroy for their quick response and care.
Services will be held at Anderson’s McDaniel Funeral Home in Middleport, Ohio on Monday, January 19, at 6:00 pm. Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the funeral service (4-6:00pm).
