Virginia Holman Obituary

Virginia Lou Grogan Holman, 96, of Middleport, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in the home she had lived in since 1937, following the flood.

She was born on November 5, 1929, in Middleport, Ohio, to the late Ottie Grant Grogan and Frank Grogan Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Grogan Jr., who passed away at the age of three in 1924.

During the war years, Virginia’s parents worked in Columbus at an airplane factory, and she often spoke of those years living in Reynoldsburg. After the war, the family returned to Beech Street in Middleport, where Virginia attended Middleport High School and graduated in 1949.

Virginia shared a lifelong love story with Wilkie Holman. The two began dating when she was 16 years old and remained devoted to one another until they were married in 1981.

Over the years, Virginia was a familiar face at many class reunions, where she was known to “cut the rug” and enjoy time with friends. It seems fitting that she was still attending reunions as recently as last year.

A woman of deep faith, Virginia was a born-again Christian who grew up in the Methodist Church, where she played the piano. Piano music and her love for Jesus were among the most important parts of her life. In the 1960s, Virginia and her mother joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pomeroy. She loved sharing her faith with others and wrote many hymns throughout her life.

Virginia also had a gift for music and teaching. She gave piano lessons for many years, traveling to people’s homes and later teaching from her own home.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, with Pastor Jim Holman officiating. Burial will follow in Letart Falls Cemetery.
