Walter Joseph “Joe” Roush, 87, of New Haven, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026.
Born on January 20, 1939, in Mason, West Virginia, Joey was the son of the late Bill and Mary Roush. A dedicated and hardworking man, Joey spent more than 50 years as a union brick mason. He worked alongside his father in the family-owned B & J Masonry business and later worked with his brother, Herbert “Herbie” Roush, at the family-owned Main Street Furniture in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Joe was a faithful Christian and was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and devotion to his family. He was a loving father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout his years.
In addition to his parents, Joey was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor “Sissy” Keck; his niece, Deanna Lynn Freeman; his brother, Herbert “Herbie” William Roush; and his beloved wife, Sandy Roush.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Joseph Roush of Florida and Mark Wilson Roush (Wendi Frye) of New Haven, West Virginia; his stepdaughters, Marlena Jordan, Valerie Rogers, and Ginger Campbell of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; his brother, Harry James Roush (Sandy) of New Haven, West Virginia; his sister, Bonnie Williams of Racine, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Pauletta Roush of New Haven, West Virginia; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
Joe will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his craftsmanship as a mason, and the kindness and integrity he demonstrated throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life honoring Joey will be held at a later date, with a graveside service to follow at the Longdale Cemetery arrangements to be announced by the family.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
