William "Bill" Justis Obituary

    William Douglas Justis of Racine, Ohio, aged 68, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia following an illness. Affectionately known as Bill, he leaves behind a legacy of service to God and genuine connection with people.

   Bill dedicated 38 years of his life to ministry, most recently serving as the pastor of New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Middleport, Ohio. He also pastored Hysell Run Holiness Church and the Nazarene churches in Portland, Pomeroy, Chester Hill, Ohio. Throughout his career, he touched many lives, offering guidance, support, and compassion to those in need.

   In addition to his pastoral work, Bill had a diverse range of skills and occupations, working as a truck driver, a school bus driver, and a mechanic. Bill enjoyed fishing and golfing with friends. His sense of humor was infectious and was known for his love of telling jokes and funny stories. When someone was in need, Bill could be counted on to help find a solution. His greatest strength lay in his ability to connect with many different kinds of people, exemplifying kindness, empathy, and God’s love.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Justis and Juanita (Parsons), and his brother Paul Justis, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sonja (Barber White), better known as Sandy; his son, David Justis (Bethany) of Bluefield, West Virginia; daughter, Trudy Justis (fiancé Michael Connelly) of Chester Hill, Ohio; son Christopher Justis of Racine; sister Brenda Corder (Don) of Belpre, Ohio; step-mother Carol Justis of Racine; half-siblings Paula, Melissa, and Brian Justis of Racine; and grandchildren Cameron and Emma Justis of Bluefield, West Virginia.

   A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 980 General Hartinger Way, Middleport, Ohio 45760 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Visitation hour with family and friends will be from 5:00-6:00 PM, and a memorial celebration service begins at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to to assist with bills and final expenses, or to the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in his honor.
